Coordination Meeting Between the Chairman and the Minister of Labor

The Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, headed by Ambassador Ramez Dimechkie, held a meeting this morning with the Minister of Labor, Dr. Mohammad Al-Haydar, at the Ministry of Labor, as part of the committee’s ongoing coordination meetings with Lebanese ministries and institutions concerned with the issues of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dimechkie provided a comprehensive briefing on the committee’s work priorities, focusing on efforts at both the legal and administrative levels to improve the conditions of Palestinian refugees and strengthen ongoing coordination with official Lebanese authorities in accordance with the Lebanese Constitution and national sovereignty.
The committee’s director highlighted the positive and constructive relationship that has existed between the committee and the Ministry of Labor since its establishment, commending previous facilitation efforts. She emphasized the importance of maintaining and enhancing this relationship and presented the current projects of the committee, particularly initiatives aimed at supporting stability and security through the issuance of biometric identity cards and work permits, as well as initiatives to improve access to the labor market.
The committee’s legal adviser provided a brief overview of the rights-based legal track the committee is pursuing, which includes preparing a draft legislation to regulate the legal status of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, ensuring their rights and duties while promoting societal stability and social justice within the Lebanese legal framework.
