LPDC followed up on the work of the team working on the project to develop strategic interventions to improve water and sanitation services

LPDC concluded its support to the inception phase of the Strategic Intervention Development Project for Improving Water and Wastewater Services, paving the way for the project’s detailed assessment phase, which commenced with a week-long series of field visits to the camps targeted by the study: Burj El-Barajneh, Shatila, Ain El-Hilweh, Mieh w Mieh, Nahr El-Bared, and Beddawi.
At the conclusion of the visit, LPDC held a final evaluation meeting chaired by Ambassador Ramez Dimechkie, with the participation of Palestine Ambassador Mohammad Al-Assad, members of the project follow-up committee at the Department of Refugee Affairs, and representatives of UNRWA. The meeting reviewed the key observations and preliminary findings emerging from the field visits and meetings with popular committees and relevant stakeholders in the camps.
The meeting also focused on discussing the next steps of the study and mechanisms to strengthen coordination and cooperation among LPDC, the Department of Refugee Affairs, and UNRWA. The detailed assessment phase will inform a comprehensive report and strategic study aimed at developing targeted interventions to improve water and wastewater services and enhance living conditions in Palestinian camps in Lebanon.
The project follow-up committee had begun its visit to Lebanon with a coordination meeting at LPDC’s office, during which the working methodology and mechanisms adopted for carrying out the study were reviewed.
Ambassador Dimechkie stressed the importance of moving forward with this strategic project in cooperation with all relevant partners, given its direct contribution to the development of sustainable and evidence-based interventions that will strengthen water and wastewater services in Palestinian camps.
