LPDC’S Chairman received Dr. Ahmad Abou Holi

The Chairman of the Lebanese Palestinian Dialogue Committee (LPDC), Ambassador Ramez Dimechkie, together with Ms. Nadine Marouk, Executive Director, and Ms. Daniella Saoud, Coordination and Legal Officer, received at the Grand Serail a delegation from the Department of Refugee Affairs (DORA), headed by Dr. Ahmad Abou Holi, Head of DORA and Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), and including Mr. Jamal Fayyad, Director of DORA in Lebanon, and Ms. Raneem Zaiter, Head of the Media Department at DORA in Lebanon.

The situation of the Palestinian Camps was discussed, as were the general socio-economic, security and legal constraints on Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and ways were explored to improve their humanitarian, social and economic conditions and safeguard their dignity while maintaining the stability of the camps and respecting Lebanese laws. Both sides stressed the urgent need to mobilize support, renew UNRWA’s mandate, and reject any attempts to weaken its role or transfer its responsibilities.

Ambassador Dimechkie reiterated the principle set out in President Aoun’s inaugural speech and the government’s ministerial statement both of which emphasized the government’s exclusive rights to hold weapons, and welcomed President Abbas’s total commitment to this, as he stated during his recent visit to Lebanon. Both parties reaffirmed the Palestinians’ right of return, the establishment of a Palestinian state, the rejection of any form of permanent settlement, and their commitment to UN Resolution 194.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen coordination and engage with all relevant stakeholders to create the conditions necessary for achieving these goals—ensuring Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability while protecting the dignity and rights of Palestinian refugees.
