The General Situation of Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon Discussed in a Meeting with the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received today at the Grand Serail a Palestinian delegation that included the Special Representative of the President of Palestine, Mr. Yasser Abbas; the Legal Adviser to the Palestinian President, Mr. Wael Lafi; and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Lebanon, Mr. Mohammad Al-Assad. The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, Ambassador  Ramez Dimechkie, and the committee’s political and legal adviser, Dr. Ali Murad.

The discussions addressed the general situation of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, the ongoing process of handing over weapons inside the camps, and issues related to the humanitarian, social, and economic rights of refugees. The meeting also tackled ways to address several pressing living conditions in a manner that strengthens Lebanese-Palestinian cooperation, within the framework of respecting Lebanese sovereignty and laws and ensuring a dignified life for Palestinian refugees.

Prime Minister Salam reaffirmed the Lebanese government’s commitment to following up on these issues in a way that promotes and strengthens Lebanese-Palestinian relations.
