LPDC Chairman and UNRWA Deputy Commissioner visit Nahr Al Bared camp to support its reconstruction
UNRWA Deputy Commissioner General Leni Stenseth and LPDC Chairman Dr. Bassel Al Hassan visited Nahr Al Bared camp today, accompanied by the Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Claudio Cordone.
The delegation visited Blocs N.56 and N.57 which are currently undergoing reconstruction, although not without challenges that have slowed progress. The delegation also visited the reconstructed buildings in Block N.55 and met a family who recently returned to their home. The family thanked UNRWA for assisting them and expressed hope that displaced families from Nahr el Bared will also be able to return soon.
The delegation met with a group of young Palestine refugees from Lebanon who spoke about their studies, their frustration regarding restrictions on their right to work, the lack of available job opportunities, and their loss of hope. Representatives of the Palestinian factions and the popular committees spoke to the delegation, calling for increased support from the Agency and the Lebanese authorities.

Ms. Stenseth and Dr. Al Hassan reaffirmed their support for Palestine refugees and UNRWA, highlighting the growing interest of donor countries in Lebanon during the UNRWA Advisory Commission meeting held last week in Beirut. Ms. Stenseth and Dr. Al-Hassan expressed their solidarity and commitment for young Palestinians to enjoy their rights, particularly the right to work.
