Statement Issued by LPDC On Nakba Day
The Lebanese–Palestinian Dialogue Committee extends its greetings to the resilience of the Palestinian people, and renews its affirmation of the need to unify Arab and international efforts in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, and to guarantee the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes in accordance with the relevant international resolutions.
The Committee also emphasizes the pivotal role entrusted to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in protecting the rights of refugees and providing them with essential services. It stresses the necessity of continuing support for the Agency and ensuring its sustainable funding, away from any political or financial targeting that would negatively affect the conditions of Palestinian refugees and their human rights.
On this occasion, the Committee further reaffirms Lebanon’s steadfast commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right of return, in line with Lebanon’s position rejecting permanent settlement and adhering to international resolutions.
